- 2 sheetsPuff pastry(from the refrigerated section)
- 200 gCream cheese(plain)
- 50 gWild garlic(fresh)
- 1 tbspOlive oil
- 1 tspLemon juice
- 1 pinchSalt(to taste)
- 1 pinchBlack pepper(freshly ground, to taste)
- 1 largeEgg(for brushing)
- tbspSesame seeds(optional, for topping)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Wash the wild garlic thoroughly, shake it dry, and finely chop it. In a bowl, combine the cream cheese, chopped wild garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix well until everything is evenly combined.
Unroll the puff pastry sheets. Spread the wild garlic cream cheese mixture evenly over each sheet, leaving a small border on one long side.
Starting from the long side with the filling, carefully roll up each puff pastry sheet tightly into a log.
Cut each log into approximately 1-inch (2.5 cm) thick slices. You should get about 10-12 rolls per sheet.
Place the cut rolls onto the prepared baking sheet. Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush the tops of the rolls with the egg wash. If desired, sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed up. Let them cool slightly before serving.
💡 Tipp
Varianten
- Add 2 tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese to the cream cheese mixture for extra cheesy flavor.
- Mix in finely chopped sun-dried tomatoes or olives for a Mediterranean twist.
Ersatz & Alternativen
- If fresh wild garlic is not available, use 2-3 cloves of finely minced garlic along with 1/2 cup of blanched and squeezed dry fresh spinach for a similar aromatic profile.
- For a vegan version, use vegan puff pastry and a plant-based cream cheese alternative. Replace the egg wash with a plant-based milk or olive oil for brushing.
Aufbewahrung
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Einfrieren
The unbaked rolls can be frozen. Arrange them on a baking sheet and freeze until firm, then transfer to a freezer-safe bag. Bake from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
