- 250 mlMilk(lukewarm)
- 7 gActive dry yeast
- 50 gGranulated sugar
- 500 gAll-purpose flour(plus extra for dusting)
- 1 Prise(n)Salt
- 1Egg(large)
- 50 gUnsalted butter(melted)Milch
- 200 gStrawberry jam(or other jam of your choice)
- 50 gPowdered sugar(for dusting)
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine the lukewarm milk, active dry yeast, and 1 teaspoon of the granulated sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
Add the remaining granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, salt, egg, and melted butter to the yeast mixture. Knead with a stand mixer or by hand for about 8-10 minutes until you have a smooth, elastic dough that is no longer sticky.
Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 0.5 inches (1.5 cm) thick. Use a round cookie cutter (about 2.5-3 inches / 6-7.5 cm diameter) to cut out circles. You can re-roll the scraps once.
Place the cut-out doughnuts on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving some space between them. Cover them again and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Preheat your air fryer to 325°F (160°C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place 2-3 doughnuts in the basket, ensuring they don't touch.
Air fry for 4-6 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through. Cooking time may vary depending on your air fryer. Repeat with the remaining doughnuts.
Let the doughnuts cool slightly on a wire rack. While still warm, use a piping bag with a long, thin nozzle to fill each doughnut with strawberry jam.
Dust the filled doughnuts generously with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy your homemade, light, and fluffy Air Fryer Berliners!
💡 Tipp
Varianten
- Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract or lemon zest to the dough for extra flavor.
- Experiment with different jam fillings like raspberry, apricot, or even chocolate hazelnut spread.
Ersatz & Alternativen
- If you don't have a piping bag, make a small incision in the side of the doughnut with a knife and carefully spoon in the jam.
- For a dairy-free option, use plant-based milk and vegan butter.
Aufbewahrung
Store leftover doughnuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat briefly in the air fryer for the best texture.
Einfrieren
Unfilled, cooked doughnuts can be frozen for up to 1 month. Thaw at room temperature, then fill and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
