Instructions
Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into even-sized fries (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick). For extra crispiness, soak the cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Then, drain them thoroughly and pat them completely dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. This step is crucial for achieving crispy results.
In a large bowl, combine the dried potato fries with olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika powder (if using), and garlic powder (if using). Toss well to ensure all fries are evenly coated with the oil and seasonings.
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
Place the seasoned fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary to ensure even cooking and crispiness. Overcrowding will result in steamed rather than crispy fries.
Air fry for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket every 5-7 minutes to redistribute the fries and promote even browning. Continue cooking until the fries are golden brown and crispy to your liking. Cooking time may vary depending on your air fryer model and the thickness of your fries.
