Filling
- 150 gwild garlic
- 100 mlolive oil
- 0.5 tspsalt
- 0.25 tspblack pepper
- 200 ggrated cheese (e.g., mozzarella, cheddar, or a blend)Milch
Instructions
For the dough, combine flour, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl. Add the lukewarm milk, melted butter, and salt. Knead with a dough hook or by hand for about 5-7 minutes until you have a smooth, elastic dough. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
While the dough is rising, prepare the wild garlic mixture. Wash the wild garlic thoroughly, shake dry, and chop finely. In a small bowl, combine the chopped wild garlic with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll the dough into a large rectangle, approximately 16x20 inches (40x50 cm).
Spread the wild garlic mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Then, sprinkle the grated cheese over the wild garlic.
Cut the dough into approximately 12-15 equal strips (about 1.5-2 inches or 4-5 cm wide) using a pizza cutter or knife. Stack 3-4 strips on top of each other and cut them again into smaller pieces, about 1.5-2 inches (4-5 cm) long. Alternatively, you can fold the rectangle in half lengthwise, then cut into strips and stack them.
Grease a loaf pan or a round springform pan (approx. 9-10 inches / 23-26 cm diameter). Arrange the stacked dough pieces vertically in the prepared pan, slightly overlapping, to create the 'pull-apart' effect. Don't worry if it's not perfectly neat; it will look beautiful once baked.
Cover the pan again with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise for another 30 minutes in a warm place.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the pull-apart bread for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. If it starts browning too quickly, you can cover it loosely with aluminum foil.
Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool slightly in the pan for about 10 minutes before carefully transferring it to a wire rack. Serve warm and enjoy pulling apart the cheesy, garlicky layers!
