- 60 gPanko Breadcrumbs
- 60 mlMilk
- 30 gParmesan Cheese(grated)Milch
- 1 tspGarlic Powder
- 1 tspOnion Powder
- 0.5 tspDried Oregano
- 1 Prise(n)Salt(to taste)
- 1 Prise(n)Black Pepper(to taste)
- 15 mlOlive Oil
- 1 can (794g)Crushed Tomatoes
- 240 mlBeef Broth
- 1 tbspTomato Paste
- 1 tspDried Basil
- 0.5 tspSugar
- 1 cloveGarlic(minced)
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, panko breadcrumbs, milk, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overmix, as this can make the meatballs tough.
Roll the mixture into approximately 18-20 meatballs, about 1.5 inches (4 cm) in diameter. Set aside.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Carefully place the meatballs in the hot oil, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the pan. Brown the meatballs on all sides for about 5-7 minutes. They don't need to be cooked through at this stage.
Remove the browned meatballs from the skillet and set them aside. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, tomato paste, dried basil, and sugar. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
Return the browned meatballs to the skillet, nestling them into the sauce. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for at least 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Taste the sauce and adjust seasonings (salt, pepper, sugar) as needed. Serve hot with your favorite pasta, rice, or a side of crusty bread. Enjoy!
