- 4 countBavarian Weißwürste (white sausages)
- 2 countfresh pretzels
- 100 gsweet mustard
- 1 pinchsalt(to taste)
- 1 cupwater(for warming sausages)
Instructions
Gently heat water in a pot until it's very hot, but not boiling. The water should be around 160-170°F (70-75°C). You don't want to boil Weißwürste, as their delicate skins can burst.
Carefully place the Weißwürste into the hot water. Let them steep for about 8-10 minutes. They should be heated through but remain tender and juicy.
While the sausages are warming, briefly warm the fresh pretzels in the oven if desired, or serve them at room temperature.
Remove the Weißwürste from the water using tongs and drain them well.
Serve the warmed Weißwürste immediately with the fresh pretzels and a generous dollop of sweet mustard. Traditionally, Weißwürste are eaten by sucking the meat out of the casing, or by cutting them lengthwise and removing the casing.
