- 200 gFlammkuchen dough(from the refrigerated section)
- 200 gSmoked bacon(diced)
- 2 stalksLeeks
- 200 gCreme fraicheMilch
- 100 gSour cream
- 1 pieceEgg
- 1 pinchSalt(to taste)
- 1 pinchBlack pepper(freshly ground, to taste)
- 1 pinchNutmeg(freshly grated, to taste)
- 1 tbspOil(for frying)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a medium-sized baking dish.
Unroll the Flammkuchen dough and cut it into bite-sized pieces or strips. Distribute these pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish.
Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the diced bacon and cook until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the rendered fat in the pan.
Clean the leeks thoroughly and slice them into thin rings. Add the leek rings to the skillet with the bacon fat and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until softened, but still slightly firm.
In a bowl, whisk together the creme fraiche, sour cream, and egg. Season generously with salt, pepper, and freshly grated nutmeg. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
Add the cooked bacon and sautéed leeks to the creme fraiche mixture and stir to combine.
Pour the leek-bacon-creme fraiche mixture over the Flammkuchen dough in the baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly and the dough is cooked through. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
💡 Tipp
Varianten
- For a vegetarian version, omit the bacon and add sautéed mushrooms or roasted butternut squash.
- Add a pinch of smoked paprika to the leek mixture for an extra layer of flavor.
- Top with shredded Gruyere or Emmental cheese during the last 10 minutes of baking for a cheesy crust.
Ersatz & Alternativen
- If you can't find Flammkuchen dough, you can use thin puff pastry or a pre-made pizza crust.
- Greek yogurt can be used instead of sour cream for a slightly tangier and lower-fat option.
- Chives or green onions can be used as a garnish instead of or in addition to leeks.
