- 1 tablespoonVegetable oil
- 800 gFrozen French fries
For the sauce
- 1 tablespoonCurry powder
- 1 tablespoonPaprika powder
- 0.5 teaspoonChili powder(adjust to taste)
- 1 canCrushed tomatoes((400g))
For the sauce
- 2 tablespoonsTomato paste
- 1 cupVegetable broth
- 2 tablespoonsApple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoonsBrown sugar
- 1 pinchSalt(to taste)
- 1 pinchBlack pepper(to taste)
For serving
- 1 tablespoonCurry powder
- tablespoonChopped parsley(optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) according to the package instructions for the French fries. Spread the frozen French fries in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Flip them halfway through baking.
While the fries are baking, prepare the curry sauce. Heat the vegetable oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the curry powder, paprika powder, and chili powder. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, stirring constantly.
Stir in the tomato paste and cook for another minute. Then, add the crushed tomatoes, vegetable broth, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar. Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook for at least 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
In a separate pan, cook the bratwurst sausages. You can grill them, pan-fry them, or broil them until they are fully cooked through and nicely browned on all sides. Once cooked, slice the bratwurst into bite-sized pieces.
To serve, arrange the crispy French fries on plates. Place the sliced bratwurst next to or on top of the fries. Pour a generous amount of the warm curry sauce over the bratwurst.
Garnish with an extra sprinkle of curry powder and fresh chopped parsley, if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade Currywurst!
