For the Chocolate Layer
- 100 gunsalted butterMilch
- 100 gsemi-sweet chocolate chips
- 30 mlmilk
- 50 gpowdered sugar
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Line a 23x33 cm (9x13 inch) baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides to easily lift the bars out later.
For the crust, crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs. You can do this in a food processor or by placing them in a Ziploc bag and crushing them with a rolling pin. In a medium bowl, combine the cookie crumbs with the melted butter until well mixed.
Press the cookie mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan. Bake for 8-10 minutes, then remove from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
While the crust cools, prepare the peanut butter layer. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the creamy peanut butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat until the mixture is light and fluffy.
Spread the peanut butter mixture evenly over the cooled cookie crust. Place the pan in the refrigerator to chill for at least 30 minutes, or until the peanut butter layer is firm.
For the chocolate layer, melt the butter and chocolate chips together in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Alternatively, you can melt them in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth.
Remove the chocolate mixture from the heat and stir in the milk and powdered sugar until completely smooth and glossy.
Pour the warm chocolate mixture evenly over the chilled peanut butter layer. Gently spread it to cover the entire surface.
Refrigerate the bars for at least 2-3 hours, or preferably overnight, until the chocolate layer is set and firm. Once set, lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang.
Cut into 24 squares and serve. Enjoy Dad's happy reaction!
