- 2 mediumapples(e.g., Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
- 1 sheetrefrigerated puff pastry(approx. 250 g or 8.8 oz)
- 2 tbspgranulated sugar
- 1 tspground cinnamon
- 1 largeegg(for egg wash)
- 1 tbsppowdered sugar(for dusting)
Instructions
Core the apples and slice them into rings about 0.2 inches (0.5 cm) thick. You should get about 4-5 rings per apple.
Unroll the puff pastry sheet and cut it into strips about 0.8 inches (2 cm) wide. You'll need one strip per apple ring.
Carefully wrap each apple ring with a strip of puff pastry, making sure to slightly overlap the edges so the apple is fully covered.
In a small bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
In another small bowl, whisk the egg to create an egg wash.
Brush each wrapped apple ring with the egg wash, then sprinkle generously with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
Place the apple rings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they don't touch. Air fry for 8-12 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed, and the apples are tender. Flip them halfway through cooking for even browning.
Remove the apple rings from the air fryer and let them cool slightly on a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
