- 1.5 lbGround beef
- 0.5 lbGround pork
- 2 slicesDay-old bread or rolls(soaked in water or milk)
- 1 mediumOnion(finely chopped)
- 2Eggs(large)
- 2 tbspFresh parsley(chopped)
- 1 tspMustard
- 1 tspSalt(to taste)
- 0.5 tspBlack pepper(freshly ground, to taste)
- 0.25 tspMarjoram(dried)
- 2 tbspVegetable oil(for frying)
Instructions
Soak the day-old bread or rolls in water or milk for about 5-10 minutes until soft. Squeeze out excess liquid thoroughly.
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef and ground pork. Add the squeezed bread, finely chopped onion, eggs, chopped parsley, mustard, salt, pepper, and marjoram.
Using your hands, thoroughly mix all ingredients until well combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the meatballs tough.
Form the mixture into oval-shaped meatballs, about 2-3 inches long and 1 inch thick. You should get about 12-15 meatballs.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully place the meatballs into the skillet, ensuring not to overcrowd it. You may need to cook them in batches.
Brown the meatballs on all sides, about 3-5 minutes per side, until they have a nice golden-brown crust. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the skillet, and let them cook for another 10-15 minutes, or until cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 160°F (71°C).
Remove the meatballs from the skillet and drain any excess fat on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite side dishes, such as potato salad or mashed potatoes, and a dollop of mustard.
